Lesson 1: Different people different pastimes

Q. Why people want to travel?

Answer:

Traveling is most enjoyable and amusing experience of a man’s life. It’s a born nature of man to see unseen and to know unknown.

People want to travel because-

People learn a lot through the traveling so that they love to travel.
They want new experiences by travelling unknown places and unacquainted to get knowledge.
Every destination has something unique to teach visitors and immersing themselves in completely different world is the best learning experience.
Somebody like adventures to remove their normal monotonous daily routine works.
People also move to visit their friends and family who live in far places.

Q. Write four sentences on your last celebrating using past form.

Answer:

Last year I have travelled in Cox’s bazar with my friends and family.
In the hotel room, I shared my bed with my bosom friend.
It was really so much fun and amusing.
We walked in the beach and nice places such as Himchari Jharna, Inani beach, Barmees Market etc.

Q. What is pastime?

Answer:

A pastime is one kind of activity that people pass their hobby or leisure time from the normal daily doing. It is to spend time to relax for rest and refreshment. For example; we are bored, so to pass time doing something enjoyable or which things relief us from monotonous life. Such as, process gardening, playing indoor games, running, jumping, reading book, watching TV, reading newspaper, doing productive things, photography, art, making delectable cousins at home, gossiping learning something new, exercise, gym, yoga and so on you can added on this list for pass your time.

Q. What are the most common pastimes of Bangladesh?

In Bangladesh, pastimes can be divided into two types-1, Village, 2. City, Village men generally play different types of games as pastime. They play football. Cricket, cards, Ha-du-du, Badminton, Volley ball etc. Sometimes, they go to the cinema or Jatra pala. Village women generally spend their free time by gossiping. Sometimes they play Ludu. Finding out lice is a very common village pastime for women Angling is favorite to men.

On the other hand, town people visit parks, play cricket badminton, do photography, visit places, read newspaper, do face booking, surfing the internet etc.

However, one thing is common for all people of the country is watching TV. There are some other people who enjoy gardening or reading book. Actually leisure is very stimulation for creativity. A man can easily flourish his creativity by doing some interesting things in his leisure time. Actually leisure provides a man with ample scope to have refreshment of mind. It gives a man enthusiasm for further work. In many developed countries leisure activities are given special importance. In Germany there is a German Association. In Bangladesh the rural people enjoy gossiping during their leisure time. But in the busy cities people pass their leisure by watching TV. However leisure is a part and parcel of our daily life. So it should be used properly.

Q. What is your favorite pastime ? How to you perform it.

Ans: Pastime means something that you enjoy doing when you are not working. It may not bring you many but it gives you joy and pleasure. A man must have a hobby for a sound maid and sound health. A man cannot enjoy his leisure without a pastime. So it is necessary to enjoy life.

I am a teacher. I have a pastime. My favorite is gardening. It gives me much pleasure. I have a garden in front of my living room. Whenever, I time. I work in it. I loose the soik with the spade and weed out the grass. I water the plants regularly. I also put a fenced around may garden so that cattle or, naughty children can not do any harm to my garden, In the morning my heart leaps up with joy to see may garden full of flowers. The spread a sweet smell. The garden also looks very charming.

It has improved my body and mind. Before making this garden I was a man of ill health. I did not feel hungry. I lost my tasted for food. Day by day I became weak. I started the garden to have a sound health and my health, in fact improved.

Every day I work in the garden at least on hour, As a result of it my blood runs well. The beauty and sweet smell of different flowers make me jolly. On holidays I work more in my garden. When my friends and neighbors came to my home. I take them into my garden and show them various flowers. They became very glad to see my garden and hanks me.

I also grow various kinds of vegetables in one corner of my garden. My mother and wife become very happy to have the vegetables. They prepare delicious dishes and serve to our family. This also gives me much pleasure. Thus my pastime is a great source of joy and pleasure. It relives me from my routine bound work. It helps m forget sorrow and sufferings. It makes my body strong and mind Jolly.

Answer:

In my childhood I used to eat a lot of chocolates.
My father and relatives used to buy it for me. At primary stage, I used to play with my friends.
We used to play many kinds of games such as Hide and seek, Ludu, Hadodo, Dariya-bandha and so on.
I have a good habit from my childhood. I used to get up early in the morning and also go to sleep early at night.

Lesson 2: Photography: When your camera clicks

Q. What is the photography?

Photography is a way of making a picture using a camera. The essential purpose of photography is communication. It is the art of capturing beauty and emotion in one’ own perspective and letting the world enjoy it or fell it. It is like a painting. The image is first created in the mind of an artist. Then it is put on canvas so that anyone who sees the art can enjoy it in the way the artist imagined.

Q. Evaluate photography as a career.

Ans: Career in photography is an emerging idea in Bangladesh. Those who have a degree in photography, can find jobs as commercial photographers, photo journalists etc. It doesn’t mean that you can’t choose the career without having a professional degree. Today, there are a multitude of diverse careers in the field, from portrait photography to photojournalism. They can work as freelancers or permanent jobs.

Portrait photographer: These photographers are generally freelancers. They take pictures in different occasions like wedding or any other functions ranging from family to social.

Commercial photographer: They generally work for different commercial institutes. They take pictures of building to merchandise for media such as catalogs. Advertisement and website. Besides, their photographs may be documents, records and reports. This may be the most lucrative career in photography.

Scientific: They document a variety of subjects in order to record, experiments illustrate technical information and showing images not normally visible to the eye. Usually they work for government agencies, research facilities or universities.

Photo journalist: They document people and event for newspapers, magazines and other publications. They usually work for newspapers as staffs or as freelancers. This is another lucrative career field for photographers.

Photography can help us to increase our social awareness in many ways. Such as pollution, bad impact of child labour, dowry problem etc.
It can really bring us closer to people around the world as images are a universal language anyone can understand and being touched.
It acts as a tool of proof of some theoretical ideologies.
We can preserve records of our history and famous places for the next generation.

Q. What is the functions of digital camera?

Answer:

A digital camera is a hardware device that takes photographs and stores the image as data on a memory card. Unlike an analog camera, which exposes film chemicals to light, a digital camera user digital optical component to register the intensity and color of light, and converts it into pixel data. Many digital cameras are capable of recording video in addition to taking photos.

Q. Can photography be regarded as a document?

Answer:

Photography can be treated as a document of the past happenings. War photographs may be used as proofs to identify war crimes. Occasional photography can reveal previous life style, dress code, norms of behavior and even food menu. A photography catches the happenings as well as proof and emotions of an incident. It reveals the ultimate truth. A photography may give such message that can revolutionize the world. It reveals the changes of environment.
